"The Memorial to Murdered Jews" (exact title). This recently completed memorial has been the source of a significant amount of controversy. First the title, as it is a memorial to Jews only, when several other groups were murdered by Hitler and his army. Second, it was built on a very significant piece of land - right in the heart of the area that is being redevoloped by the government. And with the government in significant debt, the land could have been sold to generate funds to help pay for programs / services for the people. Third, this is it. The title of the memorial (which you only find on a map or signs pointing to this acre of land) and the concrete boxes. There are no names, no stories, no numbers, just gray concrete. What does that mean? After the memorial was built, further controversy occurred after it was published that the company that made the chemical that was put on the concrete to make it graffitti resistent was the same company that produced cyanide gas for Hilter.
