This is the auction room, the flowers are shown on the screen for the buyers with information on the seller and quantity. It is a Dutch auction - a clock counts the price down and the first buyer to stop the clock is able to buy the flowers at that price. This is unlike a traditional auction where the price bids up, in this case you stop the price at the highest amount you are willing to pay and you run the risk that someone will buy all of the product at a lower price. You pay per flower stem. Roses are most commonly sold and they were going for .40 - .80 euro cent / stem the day I was there. Posted by Picasa
